Veda Tyson, MSN, MSW, APRN, PMHNP-BC is a licensed and board-certified Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner specializing in child, adolescent, and family mental health. She is extensively trained in evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE). Veda also has specialized expertise in Parent Management Training (PMT).

Veda has practiced in a range of clinical settings—outpatient clinics, inpatient units, school-based health centers, medical homes, and private practice—providing her with a broad and nuanced understanding of the needs of children, teens, young adults, and families. Her clinical services include comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, individual therapy, and parent-focused interventions.

In addition to her clinical work, Veda has led professional workshops and trainings for clinicians on topics such as ADHD, social media use, and technology use in youth. She also served as a guest lecturer at the Yale University School of Nursing, where she taught on evidence-based treatments in child and adolescent mental health.

Veda is committed to providing thoughtful, collaborative, and evidence-based care that supports the mental health and wellbeing of young people and their families.

Academic

Veda earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas, a Master of Social Work from Columbia University, and a Master of Science in Nursing from Yale University, where she specialized in child and adolescent psychiatry. She also holds a post-master’s certificate in child and adolescent therapy, and has completed advanced training through Marsha Linehan’s Behavioral Tech, LLC (DBT) and the University of Pennsylvania (ERP for OCD).

Personal

Outside of her professional work, Veda enjoys spending time with her family, knitting, hiking, and being in nature—activities that help her stay grounded and bring balance to her life.
